Good Omens

Ok, so I read Good Omens after I had already watched the Amazon series and let me say just now that I love both so much. It was honestly such a great book and I think I’m going to have to read it again to see what details I might have missed. Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet are such amazing writers and I’m going to be reading a lot more of their works. There’s some really funny parts throughout the book and I laughed the whole time reading the book.

A thing I really loved about this book was how they rotated perspectives. They would switch from Aziraphale or Crowley’s perspective and then they would go into one of the four horsemen’s heads and I loved that. I love seeing the same scene but through other people’s eyes so I am in love every time an author switches perspectives on me. It was really interesting to see the thoughts of the horsemen too, just to see what they thought of the whole apocalypse and about the antichrist. What was really interesting is the fact that there’s such a difference between all of the characters so their thoughts are all very different. You have Aziraphale and Crowley who are not human, then you have Anathema, who’s a witch, and then Newton, who’s just a regular human, and then you get to ‘the them’ and you see what the thoughts of these kids. And it’s very interesting because the adults don’t really think a lot of the problems going on around them, they just think about how much of an inconvenience they are, but with ‘the them’ you get to see them coming up with solutions to these problems and read about what they want to change and do when they grow up.

When reading, I attached myself to ‘the them’ and I definitely wanted more from their characters. I just really wanted more content on them and know more about their friendship. They were my favorite characters and it’s like in a TV series where you just see a glimpse of a minor characters and suddenly you want to know everything about them and just get as much information on them as you can. And that’s how I was with ‘the them’.  I really just wish over all that there was more on their characters but like all the other characters are fun to read so it was still really enjoyable!

I really recommend this book, you’ll be laughing the whole time and you will get sucked into the story. Happy Reading!
