I get to do a John Green this week! An Abundance of Katherines was one of those books that sat on my shelf for a couple of years before I read it on a whim. If you’re looking for a quick read that’s fun but also leads to contemplating some of its ideas and concepts, any John Green novel will do it. I enjoyed the protagonist of An Abundance of Katherines, a child prodigy named Colin who is struggling to live up to the pressures and expectations placed on him for as long as he could remember. He also had a weird thing for girls named Katherine and part of his character arc is falling for a girl who isn’t named Katherine. Colin and his best friend Hassan go on a road trip after another Katherine breakup and it’s enjoyable to watch the character’s dynamic and how they tackle Colin’s post-breakup emotions and his insecurities. Overall, it's a quick read with all the fun archetypes and romance you’re looking for if you’re reading a Green novel.
Happy Reading!
